DYNAMIC balancing UP TO 20 TONNES

dynamic balancing of rotors up to 20 tonnes x 12 metres long

Being part of Allied Industrial Engineering is our greatest advantage, because together we have the balancing skills and equipment for any job.

AIE has dynamic balancing machines that can cater for bigger and heavier rotating components. We can achieve balance tolerances to G 1.0 or finer (G 0.4) if required, with reference to the ISO 1940-1 Balance Quality Standard for Rigid Rotors.

These machines have end drives that create more options for driving of the rotor and at faster speeds. In some instances we can balance at the rotor’s actual operating speed. The balancing system also has a brake so we can control the rotor speed safely.

Large capacity (up to 20 tonnes) allows for balancing of heavy rotors such as generators and turbines.

Turbine rotors require specialised skills for balancing - they tend to be heavy, often complex and sensitive to correction, and need to meet rigorous balance tolerances to ensure trouble-free operation.

While balancing rotors in our workshop is usually the best option, we can also balance your rotor in-situ if required using the Emerson AMS 2140 4-channel Balancing System.

If there is a machine rotor that is difficult or time-consuming to disassemble for balancing in our workshop i.e. a large fan - then we can balance that machine where it is.

For balancing in situ, we shut the machine down and lock it out, mount our equipment and then acquire the balance condition of the rotor when it is running.  With this information we can assess the state of unbalance and calculate weight to add or subtract to the rotor until we bring it into balance.

This means we can get your machine back up and running smoothly in a faster time, reducing your plant down-time and saving on other costs such as craneage and freight.
